Privacy policy

Last updated 8 November 2026

StudySort has no accounts and keeps very little data. This page explains exactly what happens when you use it.

The short version

  • You do not need an account, and we do not ask for your name or email to use the site.
  • Notes you organise are sent to an AI model to be processed and are not stored on our server.
  • Your saved notes live in your own browser, not with us.
  • We use privacy-friendly analytics that do not use cookies.
  • Some study guide pages may show ads from Google, which can use cookies.

Notes you organise

When you use the note organiser, the text or image you submit is sent to our server and then to Groq, an AI provider, which generates the summary, key concepts, flashcards and questions. Groq processes it under its own terms and privacy policy. We do not save your notes or the result on our server.

To stop abuse, your IP address is held briefly in our server's memory to limit how many requests can be made in a short time. It is not written to a database.

Please do not paste personal information, such as names, addresses or medical details, into the organiser.

Data stored in your browser

Organised notes are saved in your browser's local database (IndexedDB) so you can come back to them. A small counter in your browser's local storage tracks how many free organises you have used today. This data stays on your device. We cannot see it, and clearing your browser data deletes it.

The free tools (planner, forgetting curve, marks calculator and timer) run entirely in your browser and send nothing to us.

Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and see which pages are useful. It does not use cookies and does not track you across other websites. We see aggregated numbers, not individual visitors.

The site is hosted on Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel processes standard request information such as IP address and browser type to deliver pages and keep the service secure.

Advertising

To keep StudySort free, some individual study guide pages may show ads served by Google AdSense. Ads are not shown on the homepage, the tools or the note organiser.

Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services, and turn off personalised ads in Google's ad settings. Where the law requires it, for example in the UK and EU, you will be asked for consent before cookies are used for advertising.

Children

StudySort is intended for students aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are under 13, please ask a parent or guardian before using the note organiser.

Your rights

Because we do not hold accounts or store your notes, there is usually nothing on our side to access or delete. Your saved notes can be removed at any time by deleting them in My notes or clearing your browser data.

Changes to this policy

If how StudySort handles data changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change.
